For the occasion of the 50-year anniversary of the founding of Chienkuo Technology University, the art gallery of CTU invited elite Taiwanese artists to display their works on October 7, 2015 in token of our celebration for the main theme of CTU's Golden Anniversary, which is in the Year of the Goat.
The opening ceremony was launched by the dance and guitar clubs giving great performances of popular music. Then, Chairman Lien-Hsing Wu delivered a speech, claiming that fostering special skills in the field of specialty, creating experts and refining our taste for the appreciation of art works have been a prime concern of CTU over the past 50 years.
During his welcoming speech, President Farm-Shing Chen mentioned that Taiwan has a special animal named "Formosan Serow". It is a member of the goat family. It lives in the mountains all year round, and enjoys moving with great energy and vigor. The Formosan Serow possesses the cherished qualities of industriousness and stamina. These are traits that we should share with this special creature. These art works reflect the spirits of innovation and ingenuity, and indicate the technical excellence and contributions to the Humanities that definitely make this exhibit at CTU worth visiting.
The four Chinese characters for the name of CTU on the top of the seal were engraved by master engraver De-Xing Lou, and then it was polished and jointly lifted up by Chairman Lien-Hsing Wu, President Farm-Shing Chen, and curator Wen-Rong Xu; meanwhile, all the guests felt the giant seal was quite a pleasant surprise.
The appearance of the grand dragon seal not only amazed the guests of honor who were present, but also is a representative token of CTU's success and prosperity. The seal features a dragon totem colored with red ink on the top, representing the sound of the Chinese character "Good Luck". It's a pioneering piece of handmade art, the creation process of which was a simultaneously exhausting but satisfying and fulfilling experience.
After the inaugurating ceremony process, everyone felt touched that all of the artisan's hard work had really paid off. This fabulous work caused a sensational notice and rave review by the media. On the day of opening ceremony, the wonder of the visual and auditory stimuli spread all over the exhibition scene; by the same token, it also showcased the potential and creative abilities of CTU's faculty.
