The ministry of education has developed a project called the Technology University Phen Shin Project. The project wants to reduce the gap in opportunities available to people living in the cities and those in the countryside. Potential students have a chance to study at a high quality Technology University.
Accordingly, the project has said that Technology Universities which have been awarded teaching excellence by the ministry of education for three years running have a chance to join the project.
The ministry of education has announced that the project will be even bigger this academic year. This year, the project has twenty-three universities involved and 1050 students allowed. Next year the number of universities involved is set to increase again to include fifteen public and seventeen private universities.
Since 1996, CTU has been awarded teaching excellence each year and provided with two hundred and seventy million dollars.
Next year, six private universities including CTU will provide public tuition. CTU will be responsible for providing tuition to 449 students.
In addition to expansion and new student numbers increasing, the rules according to Li Yan Yi who is the Commissioner of the Department of Technological and Vocational Education have changed. At first, vocational and comprehensive high schools could only recommend three or four students but now they can each recommend eight.
The projects mission is to care for the poor, increase the opportunities available to people living in the countryside. To raise the rate of those who attend high school, and make sure that vocational high school students obtain balanced grades and achieve the expected goals. President, Huang Yan Fei, hopes that students can obtain qualifications and develop skills which they can use throughout their working lives.
Finally, President, Huang, invites people to join CTU Technology University Phen Shin Project.
