Dr. Ching-ji Wu, Minister of Education, visited CTU
and planted a tree in front of the tenth landscape area as a memorization.
According to Dr. Wu, CTU is remarkable with its progresses as well as the increased competitiveness.
Dr. Ching-ji Wu, Minister of Education, hosted the eighth session of board meeting of technological and vocational education on May 13. During the campus tour, Dr. Wu praised the great progresses CTU has achieved. After CTU was upgraded to University of Technology, its competitiveness was largely enhanced and the students has benefitted from it, which makes the Minister gratified.
Accompanied by Dr. Yan-yi Li, Director of Technological and Vocational Education, Minister Wu planted a tree in front of the CTU’s tenth landscape area as a memorization of his visit. While Minister Wu was planting the Japanese white pine, he said that the technological education in our country is like the tree, which is elegant and flexible. Our education quality is among the top within many countries. He also mentioned that many countries intend to dispatch teachers to study in doctoral programs in our country and learn the technological education from Taiwan.
Minister Wu said that our country's technical education together with that in Australia, Germany and Japan are ranked as the best. The Vietnamese government is planning to send 500 college teachers to study in the doctoral programs in Taiwan within a decade; Thailand will send 500 teachers in the next five years; Indonesia will also send 1,000 teachers to take advanced courses in five years; The Indian Minister of Education also indicated that 10,000 high schools will be setting up Chinese programs and making Chinese the second foreign language, therefore over 10,000 Chinese teachers are needed. Moreover, they will send 2,000 university teachers to Taiwan in five years to study in doctoral programs.
Dr. Wu indicated that the Ministry of Education is actively recruiting international students and has a big breakthrough. The Ministry of Education in Malaysia has decided to mutually acknowledge educational degrees with Taiwan. The Saudi Arabian government will send 2,000 students to study at 2-year colleges in Taiwan with King’s scholarship. These facts prove that the technological educational system in Taiwan has developed so well so that international students will come to study in Taiwan. The Ministry of Education will also actively help private universities to recruit international students.
