A New Year, marks a new beginning. Chienkuo Technology University held a conference of worship for the New Year in the Student Center on February 1st, 2012. The campus was full of happiness. Director Kan-ren Tzeng, director Ming-jie Wu, supervisor Min-shiung Huang and more than two hundred teaching staff attended. Everyone was congratulating one another before the New Year conference began.
This year is the year of the dragon in Chinese zodiac. Director Lian-shing Wu said, “Because all the teachers and students in Chienkuo Technology University have worked so hard, the school is getting better and better, just like a dragon on Baghua Mountain.” Principal Yan-fei Huang made a big wish for the year of the dragon and highlighted three important work instructions for the year. He hopes Chienkuo Technology University can become a really unique Technology University. The celebration started with auspicious words from emcee student recruitment leader Tzuen-rung Ke and Miss Tsai-jen Lin, they blessed Chienkuo Technology University as it gets better and better and admired the great leadership from director Wu and principal Huang. The host also said some auspicious words about the year of the dragon. “There is Yangmin Mountain in northern Taiwan, Baghua Mountain in central Taiwan, and Ali Mountain in southern Taiwan. There is a dragon named Chienkuo on Baghua Mountain.”
Director Lian-shing Wu said that he cares about the staff’s welfare and noted its importance since machine factories in the early years. He said, “Although Chienkuo Technology University is a university, not a profit-making organization. I still care about the teaching staff’s welfare and health. If the school can offer a stable working environment, then the teaching staff will be healthy and happy. He also said, “Although higher education in Taiwan is getting more competitive, Chienkuo Technology University has made great progress because of all the teaching staffs hard work.” The director Wu said, “Chienkuo Technology University has been established for 47 years. Before the 50th anniversary, we have a big goal to achieve, which is to be an outstanding university.”
Chairman Wu said “Taiwanese Technology Colleges have are a unique education system, which are both technical and vocational cultivating many talents for our country. In recent years, Taiwanese contestants have won prizes from many research invention competitions. Most of the contestants come from technology colleges. Our college also wins many prizes in international competitions. Contestants will be the glory for our country.” In this New Year, chairman Wu has a wish, that our college can win more and more prizes and present them to students families and society in this the year of the dragon.
Principal Yan-Fei Huang mentioned three important points of work at the New Year conference. Firstly, the strengthening and implementation of teaching excellence, to place interns in enterprises, for students to obtain licenses, and implementation of industry-university cooperation. Secondly, to improve student recruiting.
Thirdly, to improve cooperation in studying, the invention of patents, and technological transfers. Principal Huang said “The special features of technology colleges are, producing industry-university cooperation, placing interns in enterprises, extracurricular competitions, and training our students to get their licenses. This is the only road we must walk. Although in recent years, we have had a good relationship between our college and the senior high school league. When we do it this way, other colleges will also do it, so we must have a strategy for student recruitment, so we can see double the effects. What principal Huang means is that our college has outstanding recognition in the part of producing industry-university cooperation. According to recent statistical snaps from the Ministry of Education, our college is in the top 10 which is down to the three important parts of producing industry-university cooperation in a Taiwanese Technology University. He said “to produce industry-university cooperation we must aim at teaching with the necessary materials. That is the final goal of producing industry-university cooperation.” He also talked about the partners of this industry-university cooperation initiative at the Changhua Christian Hospital and the Department of Automation Engineers, and he highlighted the performance of teacher Xi-Quan Haung. Teachers must have a positive attitude in striving for the construction of the project, and in turn we will receive identification and recognition from the industry.
Chienkuo Technology University had a perfect end with everyone's congratulations at the New Year conference. Faculties who attended will never forget chairman Wu and principal Huang's expectations. This year, Chienkuo Technology University must have the best college entrance levels, the best in 100 years. All faculties and students have the same goal which is that it will be an outstanding university.
